Nassau County has recorded its first death from the coronavirus, with the number of confirmed cases now at 139, officials said Tuesday.
The victim was a 96-year-old man who died at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Center on Monday, County Executive Laura Curran said at a press briefing, as she called on residents to continue to practice self-isolation.
“By and large people are getting the message,” Curran said. “We had to take the step yesterday and the state did as well of closing the bars because people were still going out and congregating.”
