China Launches Rocket Into Space on Route to Reach Mars

A Chinese Long March 5 rocket launched the Tianwen-1 mission launched from Hainan Island’s Wenchang Satellite Launch Center this morning (July 23) at 12:41 a.m. EDT (0441 GMT). The mission includes an orbiter, lander, and rover.

The Long March-5 carrier rocket took off from Hainan Island Thursday afternoon at 12:41 local time, marking the first attempt to reach Mars since a failed attempt with Russia several years ago.
