[Updated 8/9, 11:50 AM – CAUGHT!] Woman Assaulted & Robbed on West Broadway, Suspect on the Loose

[Updated Sunday, 11:50] CAUGHT: Police say they have arrested 32-year-old Joseph Nadal, the man who attempted to rob a woman and then touched her inappropriately in Cedarhurst.

[Updated Sunday, 8:30 AM] The following is a memo put out by NCPD [ We have also added a sketch of the wanted man and a video from the attack]

The Fourth Squad reports the details of a Robbery that occurred on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 5:33 pm in Cedarhurst.

According to detectives, a female victim, 32, was walking westbound on Broadway in the vicinity of Adelberg Lane and was grabbed from behind by an unknown male. The subject grabbed her around the neck, threw her to the ground and demanded money. The victim informed the subject she did not have any and he proceeded to touch her inappropriately. A female witness was driving eastbound on Broadway and pressed her horn which caused the subject to run northbound on Adelberg Lane.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding the above incident to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911. All callers will remain anonymous.

[Updated Friday, 9:30 AM] A detective has not yet been assigned to the case. They don’t have an ID established yet. As soon as we have more info on the case, we’ll update accordingly.

[Updated Thursday, 9:00 PM] – We have confirmed with reliable sources that this was a robbery with an injury.(Photo of assault below) More details on the description of the suspect and injuries the woman sustained will be forthcoming as they come in.


One woman assaulted in front of 347 West Broadway in Cedarhurst. The incident occurred at 5:05 PM. Apparently, the woman is lightly injured. Suspect not yet apprehended.

The suspect assaulted the woman from behind and tackled her to the ground. The two began to fight and eventually, the woman was able to kick the attacker off of her. He then fled on foot across the street and the search is still ongoing.

    Are we human or? no wonder many people love their animals, they give back and protect us more than some of the people we live among..

  2. It’s too bad that, under the new laws passed in NY last year, even when they catch this guy, they have to release him with no bail. And then he is entitled to the victim’s name, address, and phone number as well as the name, address and phone number of any witnesses.

    When you watch this video, it makes you cringe. Yet it is even more important to our government that the poor attacker not be made to suffer. How sad!
