[UPDATED 9:00 AM 9/16]: Bank Robbery in Roslyn Bank on Central Ave, Suspect on Loose

The Major Case Bureau is investigating a Robbery that occurred on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 11:09 am in Lawrence.

According to Robbery Squad Detectives, an unknown male black entered the Roslyn Savings Bank located at 333 Central Avenue. The subject approached the teller and passed a note demanding money. The teller complied and the subject fled with an undisclosed amount of US currency. The subject is described as a black male, 6’0” tall, medium build, wearing a black t-shirt, dark pants, a black hat and a surgical mask.

There were 4 employees and 4 customers inside the bank at the time of the robbery. There were no reported injuries.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.

The robbery took place at Roslyn Bank on Central Ave within the past hour. No weapon was used in the robbery, the suspect passed the cashier a note demanding the money.

The robber ran away with several hundred dollars. Nassau County 4th Precinct units are on scene combing the area on foot and in patrol cars, searching for the suspect. Helicopters can be seen from above searching as well.

  1. They only got away with a few hundred dollars bc there was no weapon…. not sure why if there was no weapon, they handed over any money at all.. maybe the teller didn’t want to find out if there was actually one?!
