Mayor de Blasio announced this morning there are now 9 zip codes in Brooklyn and Queens of concern. All communities have well over the 3% positivity rate for the first time in a while, which is cause for real concern.

Anyone not wearing a face mask may be subject to a fine.

Non-public schools that do not abide by the Department of Health’s guidelines will be immediately shut down.

De Blasio also said that if cases continue rising he will implement further restrictions, including forbidding people from gathering. As well they may close businesses if needed.

The Mayor also did acknowledge that they just got off a call with local leaders and are happy to see how most Synagauges locally had a great showing of social distancing and mask-wearing.

The commissioner announced many new initiatives in the Jewish communities, including having cars going around with loudspeakers in Yiddish encouraging masking and social distancing.
