Inwood: Carvana Burglary Leads to Arrest, After Brief Police Chase Culminating on 878

The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a Brooklyn man for a Burglary that occurred on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 12:40 AM in Inwood.

According to Detectives, Fourth Precinct Officers responded to an alarm call at Carvana located at 40 Sheridan Boulevard. Upon arrival officers noticed the garage door was open and several interior lights on. While checking the perimeter of the building a silver Infiniti that was inside the closed lot drove through the locked fence and turned right onto Sheridan Boulevard. Officers were able to initiate a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop near the intersection of Doughty Boulevard and Nassau Expressway. The defendant exited the vehicle and began shouting at the officers “shoot me, you’re going to have to shoot me”. Officers were able to de-escalate the situation by using verbal commands and the defendant, Eric Lawson, 24, of 437 Miller Avenue laid down with his hands visible and was placed into police custody without further incident.

Eric Lawson is charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, and Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer. The defendant will be arraigned on Saturday, January 9, 2021 in Mineola.
