Cedarhurst: Multiple Reports of Harassment Submitted

0

5TC received multiple reports over the last several days of girls and women being harassed on our streets. Please be vigilant, try and travel in groups and stay safe.

Incident #1

Hi! I just wanted to let you know about an
incident that happened today.
There were two girls were walking down
Cedarhurst Ave at around 12:00pm. They
thought someone was following them so
they turned down West Broadway and
began to walk quickly. They felt they
weren’t safe & turned around. There was
a Hispanic male, about 20 years old
wearing a yellow hoodie and a mask. He
ran after the girls and tried to pull down
one of the girls skirts. He ripped her
skirt. They screamed and ran down the
block to a friends house. Once inside,
they called the police. A report was
written and the police looked for the guy.
One officer said he saw a man with that
description earlier in the day. They did
NOT find him. The police officer told the
girls that even though we live in a safe
community, people can come from
anywhere. It is just NOT SAFE to walk
alone & not even in pairs. Stay in groups.
Now that Simchas Torah is coming,
want to remind’ our community to
THINK ahead and NO ONE should walk
alone- especially at night! This happened
in broad daylight! B”H no one was
physically hurt, but the girls were
definitely shaken up

Incident #2

Omg a similar thing happened
to me a few weeks ago. I was
walking to cedarhurst train
station at around 4pm on the
corner of Washington ave and
Oak St. A Hispanic male ran
towards me, he charged, yelling
obscenities and attempted to
assault me. I swung my bag
at him and screamed. Placing
as much distance between me
and the man. I wonder if it’s the
same Hispanic male. I hope
they find him and everyone
remains hyper vigilant.

We ask if anyone has any additional information to please reach out to NCPD and RNSP.
