NYC Hate Crime Task Force is currently investigating an attempted arson attack outside a Yeshiva in the heart of the Flatbush community.

Images & footage released by the NYPD on Friday show the arson suspect dressed in dark clothing walking outside the metal gates of the Yeshiva of Flatbush around 7:30 p.m. Thursday as she dumped the gasoline out of a red container.

She then set it on fire and ran off. Chasdei Hashem a security guard noticed the flames and quickly was able to put them out in time, no injuries reported.

The Yeshiva sent out the following statement:

Dear Yeshivah of Flatbush Family,

This evening, our high school building was victim to an act of antisemitic vandalism. The FDNY came immediately and the NYPD are investigating. No students or faculty were impacted and there was no damage to our building. Security will be on high alert. At this time, there is no cause for alarm as it seems this was the action of an individual.

Sincerely,

The Yeshivah of Flatbush

Statement from NY Governor Kathy Hochul:

“At around 7:30PM last night, an unidentified individual poured gasoline in front of the Yeshiva of Flatbush and ignited it. Thankfully, there were no injuries, but I want to make it very clear that this cowardly act of hate has no home here in New York. No child should ever be made to feel unsafe, especially in a place of learning. I have directed the New York State Police Hate Crimes Task Force to provide any assistance necessary in the New York City Police Department’s investigation. I will be monitoring the situation closely as we await further details on the investigation.”
