The American Embassy in Jerusalem will be providing a useful service for the community on Thursday, December 30. On that day, the Embassy will accept DS-82 passport applications from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM, with appointments not required. This event will allow applicants eligible to renew their passport by mail or drop box to submit and pay passport fees through the cashier window using cash (shekels or dollars) or credit card. Those who qualify to participate simply need to appear at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem on December 30 and line up to receive passport renewal services. There is no need to sign up in advance.

To determine whether you are eligible to renew your passport using the DS-82 form, please see here.

Along with the printed and signed DS-82 form, you must bring the following:

· Current U.S. passport, plus one photocopy of the information/ photo page

· Passport photo (see requirements here)

· If you are changing your name on your passport, submit a marriage certificate or a legal name change document, plus one photocopy

Applicants will submit and make a payment through the consular cashier window using cash or credit card. Processing time is 7 to 10 weeks. No other types of applications or services will be accepted during this DS-82 Open Day. Latecomers arriving after 2:30 PM will be turned away.

PLEASE NOTE:  Effective December 27, 2021, the passport book security surcharge will increase from $60 to $80. This passport book security surcharge applies to all passport applicants (adults and minors), whether they are applying for a first-time passport or are renewing their existing passport.

· Adult Passport Book Renewal (DS-82): $130 (increase of $20)

· Adult Passport Card Renewal (DS-82): $30 (no change)

· Adult Passport Book and Card Renewal (DS-82): $160 (increase of $20)

The American Embassy is located at 14 David Flusser Street. Chaim V’Chessed salutes the Embassy for arranging this convenient event for the community. We hope that more, similar events will be scheduled, so as to ease the current difficulties in obtaining or renewing US passports.
