A scary incident took place in our community yesterday. At around 11:30 AM on Tuesday morning, a prominent older Rav in the community was driving on Hicksville Rd. when a driver pulled up next to him and began honking incessantly. He tried to sideswipe the Rav’s car as the Rav drove away.
The driving continued until both came to a stop from the traffic by New McNeil, right in front of Shor Yoshuv. The crazed man got out of his car and ran up to the Rav’s car. He then threw a heavy drain pipe into the car, missing the Rabbi by inches and smashing out one of the windows. The perpetrator immediately sped off.
Nassau County Police, NYPD and RNSP were called and arrived on the scene, with the case being handled by Nassau Police. Baruch Hashem, the Rav is okay and will be benching Gomel tomorrow.
It is unclear at this time if this was an antisemitic targeted attack or a random road rage incident not specifically targeting our local Jewish community. Either way all are asked to be vigilant.
The suspect is on the loose and is being sought after by Police. He is reported as driving a blue car, make and model will be forthcoming.
