PSA: Products Sold in Local Trador Joe’s & Amazon With Unauthorized Hechsher

0

It has been brought to our attention that a company has been selling products to local stores bearing a OK symbol. However, the products are in fact not Kosher. OK Kosher is currently in contact with them and has alerted consumers to keep an eye out.

An OU Kosher representative sent the following statement regarding the matter:

The OK Kosher symbol (a circle with an O and a k) is a registered trademark belonging to OK Kosher Certification, and when present on products falling under the categories covered by the trademark, represents kosher certification of such products.

Consequently, any companies using the trademark who are not certified by OK Kosher, are infringing on our trademark.
As noted, the shape/ size/extraneous words are irrelevant in terms of trademark misuse.

We have and will follow up vigorously with any company found to be using our trademark in this manner.

Members of the public finding labels with our symbol on products that do not appear on our website or the OK Kosher Food App, should bring this to our attention, either via the app or by sending an email to [email protected].

Please feel free to email us directly with any further questions.

Chips company called Keto, which is sold in Trader Joe’s, bears an identical symbol to OK and is not Kosher. See photo below:

The following product is sold on Amazon. Many locals informed us of finding such products in Costco as well, so be sure to keep an eye out and inform others.
