YahalomNY Hosts Father’s Networking Event in the Five Town

0

Last week, YahalomNY hosted its first ever father’s networking event. Over 50 fathers of children with special needs joined, traveling in from Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Five Towns communities.

Dr. David Katzenstein, Chief Clinical Officer of SIMHA (the Sephardic Initiative for Mental Health Awareness), and Rabbi Baruch Rabinowitz, an esteemed mechanech and parent of a child with special needs, addressed the fathers, and took part in an open question and answer session. The conversation covered many sensitive topics, and many fathers walked away from the conversation with new ideas and techniques.

Agudah representatives from the Yeshiva Services and New York Government Affairs departments attended the event to hear from the fathers about areas where the special needs yeshiva system can be improved.

YahalomNY looks forward to hosting more fathers’ events in the future, recognizing the importance of addressing the needs of fathers of children with special needs.

YahalomNY is a resource center for parents of children with special needs. It is designed to help those parents obtain the appropriate resources by guiding, educating, and empowering parents to ensure they have the help and support they need.
