We thank all county officials and activists who attended today’s rally supporting Joey Borgen and informing DA Bragg we won’t stand for such bail nonsense! In addition, we thank the special assistant to the County Executive, Sheya Landa, for his involvement in making this happen.
County Executive Bruce Blakeman shared the following statement:
“We condemn the disgraceful plea deal offered to the animal who attacked Nassau County resident Joey Borgen because of his Jewish faith. Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg is offering a plea deal of just six months in jail to Waseem Awawdeh who, together with a mob, savagely beat Joey Borgen on a Manhattan street because he spotted a Jew. Awawdeh showed no remorse for his crime and has said that he ‘would do it again.’ Please call DA Alvin Bragg’s office at 212-335-9000 to express outrage!”
