Iran was rocked by a few intense explosions over Shabbos, including at a military site in the city of Isfahan, hitting a munitions factory. In total, 3 ‘kamikaze drones’ were used in the attacks although nobody claimed immediate responsibility for the attack. It was later determined that the country also experienced an earthquake of a 5.9 magnitude.
Iran officials claimed that the attack was “unsuccessful” and that they merely caused a rooftop fire. “At around 23:30, an unsuccessful attack using micro-aerial vehicles was carried out on one of the Defense Ministry’s workshops,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Footage on social media suggests otherwise, showing massive fires at different locations. The Jerusalem Post quoted sources saying, “The drone attack on Iranian weapons factory was a phenomenal success”.
US official tells me: “We’ve seen the press reports, but can confirm that no U.S. military forces have conducted strikes or operations inside Iran. We continue to monitor the situation, but have nothing further to provide.” https://t.co/VCxDmR0bXT
