An explosive device was detonated adjacent to the Megiddo Junction on Monday, severely injuring an Israeli civilian.
During searches in northern Israel, security forces of the elite police Yamam counterterrorism unit and Shin Bet officers opened fire at the suspect, killing him. The IDF said the suspect was a “clear danger” to the security forces and had a primed explosives belt on him then.
An initial inquiry suggests that the terrorist crossed from Lebanon into Israel this week. The possible involvement of the Hezbollah terrorist army is under review.
The assumption is that due to the quick response of security forces, another terrorist attack was prevented.

Israeli officials have lifted the gag order. Israel's preliminary investigation is that the person who planted the bomb, infiltrated into Israel from Lebanon, and was killed by Shin Bet and IDF forces. Israeli officials say the terrorist had an explosive belt, ready to be used. https://t.co/yjTVrVhbw6
