Sick People: UN HQ in NYC Lowers Flag to Half Staff in Honor of Pres. Raisi

The UN headquarters in NYC has lowered its flag to half-mast in tribute to Ebrahim Raisi and his Foreign Minister following their deaths.

“As a mark of respect for the passing of His Excellency Mr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran”—also known as “The Butcher of Tehran.”

How much lower can they go?

  1. Serious question: are you guys stupid?

This is pretty simple: Iran is a member state of the United Nations. Protocol dictates lowering the flag to half-mast when the president of a meme state dies.

For all the acknowledgment that Iran is a pariah state, and a known state sponsor of war and terrorism; for all that the dead ex-president was an awful human being whose death should be mourned by no one, Iran remains a member state of the UN, and protocol still applies.

He’s not getting special treatment. No exception was made for him. This doesn’t exhibit any particular love of him or the regime. It’s simply what is done. This is not a “new low”, this is simply an embarrassing action that the UN is forced to take according to its own rules.

I know it’s really important to find things to get your readers outraged over. I know that you can’t get those all-important clicks if you ignore an opportunity to get angry and get others angry… but get over it. This is just dumb.
