A dangerous heat wave is forecasted for the Tri-State area this week as New York City is expecting temperatures to reach 98 degrees. Temperatures are expected to keep rising throughout this week and reach the highest point on Thursday, which is the first official day of summer. The record-breaking heat wave is expected to bring along humidity and real feel temperatures into the 100’s, with warnings coming out from the governor’s office to prepare for the scorcher ahead.
Vulnerable populations such as seniors or people with health problems are at high risk and should stay out of the heat as much as possible. Take frequent breaks in the shade and stay hydrated. Be aware of the signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion and do not hesitate to seek medical attention.
Take the time to install any windows air conditioning units as summer begins and make sure children or pets are not left outside for long periods of time.
Reminder to never leave a child in a car, even for a few minutes as temperates can rise extremely quickly.
We're expecting a heat wave this week, so we're preparing New Yorkers to stay cool and safe.
