For the second time in two days, Ukraine has issued a stark warning to Jewish pilgrims, urging them to forgo the annual Rosh Hashanah pilgrimage to Uman due to the ongoing war with Russia. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stressed the grave risks posed by Russia’s military aggression, stating that it is “impossible to guarantee the safety of foreign citizens” within Ukraine.

Kyiv highlighted the additional restrictions in place under martial law, including curfews, increased patrols, limits on freedom of movement, and a ban on large gatherings. The government also noted that enforcement measures would be applied to anyone disregarding these restrictions.

Officials further underscored the dangerous conditions in Uman, pointing to the lack of adequate bomb shelters, damage to transportation infrastructure from shelling, and an insufficient number of medical personnel to handle potential emergencies.
