Hillel Fuld: Appreciate The Miracles

0

“I have to say something and it might offend some people, but I still have to say it.

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again and again.

The miracles happening before our eyes on a daily basis are exactly that. Miracles.

Let me explain.

If you look at the history of the Jewish people, even before we were called that, when we were still “Israelites”, we had a tendency to be blind to the miracles around us.

I mean, after the ten plagues, 80% of the Israelites stayed back in Egypt.

We complained in the desert. We complained on the sea. We always complained.

Now, in our defense, it’s not easy to see the miracles when you’re in it, especially if “it” is a horrible war with people dying and other people being displaced from their homes.

In fact, I’m sure many who have suffered loss in this war would disagree that we are seeing miracles. They have my deepest condolences but I still need to point out the daily miracles.

So I’m going to ignore the Iron Dome, which in and of itself is a technological wonder, or a miracle, depending how you look at it.

I’m going to ignore all the other miracles I see daily and focus on one.

All the rockets, missiles, and drones that the Iron Dome does NOT intercept, how have they not killed thousands of Israelis?

Now, I don’t want to God forbid jinx anything (or in Judaism, give it an Ayin Hara) but how could you not see the miracle of tens of thousands of these deadly weapons falling in ‘Empty spaces’ in a country smaller than New Jersey?

Where on earth are these empty spaces?!! This country is microscopic!

This is Kiryat Bialik, near Haifa, this morning.

This morning, Hezbollah got lucky and had some direct hits in Israeli cities. And still, no casualties or serious injuries.

Again, many people had their lives changed forever because of this horrible war and what I’m saying here doesn’t change their suffering. No one has to lecture me about loss. I know it well.

But we also can’t ignore the incredible reality of how this war defies logic.

How have Hezbollah fired tens of thousands of rockets, each one capable of killing tens of people, and still, the casualty count on our side is so low?

Every person we lose is an entire world and I’ll keep emphasizing that. An entire world.

But the casualty count on our side, both in the north and in the south, is nothing short of a miracle.

Even the casualty count on our side in Gaza is historically low.

If you don’t want to call it a miracle because it’s too hard for you or because you don’t believe in miracles, then call it whatever you want, but it’s incredible.

Every time I read in the news that Hezbollah fired into Israel and there are no injuries or casualties on our side, it blows my mind.

That’s all, we have to recognize the miracles, even when it’s hard and we are in it.

In this war, we have experienced the splitting of the sea many times over.

Military strategists will study this war for decades in hopes of trying to understand how Israel did what it did in terms of low casualty numbers, both on our side and on the side of our enemy.

They can call it a genocide all they want. They can quote Hamas propaganda all they want.

The facts are that the ratio between combatant and innocent casualty is the lowest it’s been in any modern war, maybe any war ever.

As I write these words, terrorists fired two cruise missiles at Israel from Iraq while Hezbollah unleashed rockets on northern Israel this morning.

All intercepted or fell in empty spaces.

We are being attacked simultaneously from Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and the list goes on and on.

And yet, thank God, the casualty numbers are so low.

Please, Hashem, make the miracles continue as we obliterate and eliminate evil from the world.

This house was destroyed this morning at 7AM by a Hezbollah missile and somehow, no injuries.

It’s incredible.

Thank you, Hashem and thank you, IDF!

In other news, we shouldn’t tolerate this reality!”
