American Airlines has announced an extended suspension of its flights to and from Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport, now halted through at least August 2025. This extends a previous suspension set to last until March 29, 2025, citing ongoing security concerns in the region.
Passengers holding tickets for impacted flights can rebook without additional fees or choose to cancel for a full refund, according to American Airlines.
Other major U.S. carriers have also prolonged their suspensions of flights to Israel. Delta Air Lines has extended its hold on service between New York’s JFK Airport and Tel Aviv until March 31, 2025, while United Airlines has placed an indefinite suspension on its flights to Israel.
Concerns grow that other carriers may follow suit, leaving El Al as the only airline operating direct Israel-U.S. routes, once again driving up prices. El Al’s profits increased significantly, with the airline reporting a record $147.7 million profit in the second quarter of 2024.
