A coalition of concerned citizens, parents, and advocacy groups came together to address the alarming rise of antisemitism on college campuses. The initiative, led by Nassau County Legislator Mazi Melesa Pilip and supported by organizations such as Macabees on the Ground, aimed to bring awareness to the escalating incidents of Jew-hatred and the lack of adequate responses from university administrations.
The group visited five colleges, where speakers, parents, and experts discussed the dangerous climate Jewish students face. They highlighted specific incidents of harassment and hostility, emphasizing the negligence of some college officials in addressing these acts of hatred. Many voiced their frustration at the lack of accountability, stressing that it is imperative for educational institutions to take stronger stances against antisemitism.
Melesa Pilip underscored the importance of collective action, stating, “We must raise our voices and stand against hate. It is our responsibility to ensure that public officials, colleges, and universities take meaningful steps to protect students from harm.”
The coalition emphasized that combating antisemitism requires a united effort from communities, policymakers, and educational leaders. They called for stricter measures to hold institutions accountable, urging schools to adopt zero-tolerance policies toward discrimination and to foster a safe, inclusive environment for all students.
The event served as a powerful reminder that hate must never be met with silence. As antisemitism continues to rise, efforts like these are crucial in ensuring campuses remain places where all students can learn and thrive without fear.
