Daniella Gilboa shared her first social media message to the world yesterday following her miraculous return to freedom (translated from Hebrew):
“Hi all, what a crazy year I’ve had and I don’t know where to start…
I think first of all I’ll say thank you to everyone❤️
To the people who for a year and three months supported my family, who didn’t leave, did not give up, or lost hope for a moment. Thank you for waiting for me, thank you for not believing the terrible rumors, thank you for continuing to pray for me throughout this period. That was my last request before I was kidnapped. I didn’t want to give up and say goodbye, so instead I prayed and believed with all my heart that my end was not there, in this migraine.
התפללתי על כל הבנות שאיתי במשך חצי שעה כי הרגשתי שלא יכולתי לעשות שום דבר יותר טוב חוץ מזה באותו הזמן. לא יכולתי לאחז בביטחון שאולי יתן לי הצבא ואולי יבוא להגן עלי, לא יכולתי להאחז בבטחון שאולי תתן לי המיגונית, כי לא מדובר רק בטילים, לא יכולתי להאחז באותו רגע גם בבנות הבודדות שהיו חמושות. ידעתי שהדבר היחידי שיכול להציל אותנו זה האמונה.
Yesterday morning I, Karina, Naama, Liri and Agam read the Beracha of the “Reward” at the Shul. This is the moment I’ve been waiting for since the day I survived October 7th. To thank Hashem who against all the odds saved us from the most terrible thing.
Eight days ago, after 477 days in captivity, I finally met with my loved ones, with the family that I thought about and worried about more than I worried about myself. With the people who were with me there, although not physically but in heart, who didn’t give up and did everything for me to come back. They made me strong all the time even without them knowing.
