The IDF confirmed today that 86-year-old Shlomo Mansour HY”D was among the hostages taken to Gaza, but tragically, he was murdered by Hamas terrorists on October 7 in Kibbutz Kissufim, and his body was abducted. Until now, his fate had remained unknown.
Shlomo was no stranger to survival. Born in Iraq, he miraculously lived through the Farhud, the horrific pogrom that ravaged the Jewish community of Baghdad in June 1941, where more than 180 Jews were brutally murdered. After escaping that horror, he built his life in Israel, settling in Kibbutz Kissufim with his beloved wife of 60 years, Mazal, who miraculously survived the Hamas massacre.
After enduring one of the darkest chapters of Jewish history, Shlomo was once again a victim of unrelenting hatred. Yihi Zichro Baruch. HY”D.
