A winter weather alert has been issued for the tri-state area, with New York City expected to receive 1 to 3 inches of snow Tuesday night. The same snow accumulation is predicted for Long Island and the southern parts of Westchester County.
In the Hudson Valley and Connecticut, snowfall is expected to be lighter, with less than an inch in most areas. However, Lakewood is bracing for heavier snow, with 3 to 5 inches likely. The rest of Southern Jersey could see similar snow totals, with some areas possibly receiving even more. Central Jersey is also expected to get 1 to 3 inches of snow.
Stay prepared for winter conditions as the storm moves through the area!
Snow arrives this evening from south to north, accumulating 1"-3" in and around New York City (less N&W) and 3"-6" down the Jersey Shore. We'll get a break during the day tomorrow before another period of snow and ice going over to rain at night. #abc7ny pic.twitter.com/krHqYR6cAo

After a cloudy afternoon, snow should move after about 8 PM and continue for much of the night, then taper off before daybreak. Greatest potential for snowfall of 2 or more will run across Long Island to the lower boroughs of NYC and into adjacent portions of New Jersey on south. pic.twitter.com/oYIlGcvO5D
