U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has announced that the Department of Justice has filed charges against the State of New York, Governor Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia James, and DMV Commissioner Mark Schroeder.
“New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. It stops—it stops TODAY,” Bondi declared, emphasizing the federal government’s commitment to enforcing immigration law.
She warned other states against defying federal statutes, stating, “If you don’t comply with federal law, we will hold you accountable. We did it to Illinois—Strike One. Strike Two is New York. If you are a state not complying with federal law, you’re next. Get ready.”

I applaud Attorney General Pam Bondi for taking action, and I call on Governor Hochul to repeal her Sanctuary State order immediately. Local and state law enforcement should be allowed to work with ICE to deport criminals. Full stop. pic.twitter.com/kMyLgkwTon

Governor Hochul responds:
New York is proud that immigrants from across the globe come here searching for a better life, and we're protecting all New Yorkers by cracking down on violent criminals.
