Keith Siegel spent 484 days in Hamas captivity, and amid the darkness, he found a new connection to his Jewish identity. His daughter, Shir, shared how her father turned to Tefillah for strength, embracing Berachos over food and reciting Shema for the first time in his life.
“In the midst of all that hell, he wanted to remember that he was Jewish, that there was meaning to his people and the place he came from. That strengthened him greatly,” Shir recounted.
Upon his return, when asked what he wanted for their first Shabbos meal together, Keith’s request was not for a favorite dish or fresh challah. Instead, he simply said, “You know what I want most of all? A kippah and a Kiddush cup.”
May he be blessed with a life of health, happiness, and renewed faith.
