Rabbi Avi Goldberg’s wife and children could have easily been consumed by anger and grief following his tragic death in Lebanon last October. After all, their beloved husband and father, at just 43 years old, left home to serve as an IDF Rabbi.
Instead, their response has been nothing short of remarkable. Rather than harboring resentment, they embraced his legacy with pride. For Purim, the family dressed up as a “Tzav 8” — a term used for a call to reserve duty in the IDF.
Their powerful message is one of deep pride: They honor their husband and father’s sacrifice in being Mosser Nefesh for Israel and Am Yisrael, and they encourage others to see IDF service as a well respected calling for a Jew.
We wish the Goldberg family, and all who R”L have lost loved ones in this tragic war, endless Nechamos and joy once again!
