Yesterday, a deadly explosion in a booby-trapped building in Rafah, southern Gaza, claimed the lives of four Israeli soldiers R”L from the Givati Brigade’s reconnaissance unit, according to military reports.
Among the fallen heroes were:
Maj. Tal Pshebilski Shaulov, 24, from Gedera, HY”D.
Staff Sgt. Eitan Karlsbrun, 20, from Modiin, HY”D.
Sgt. Almog Shalom, 19, from Hamadia, HY”D.
Sgt. Yair Levin, 19, from Givat Harel, HY”D.
An initial IDF investigation revealed that the troops had attempted to neutralize potential traps by throwing an explosive into a suspicious house in the Shaboura neighborhood. After no immediate detonation, they entered the three-story building. The structure exploded as two soldiers went inside, causing part of it to collapse on them. The IDF later discovered a tunnel shaft inside the home, suggesting it belonged to a Hamas terrorist.
Additionally, seven soldiers were wounded in the incident, five of them seriously, according to the IDF.
