Tuesday night’s election results are pouring in and George Latimer has defeated Jamaal Bowman in the NY Democratic Primary by 17 points, according to Politico. Incumbent Democrat Bowman, one of the worst critics of Israel in Congress, is part of “the squad,” including Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Summer Lee.
This election was historic in many ways, including the amount of advertising spent on both sides, with pro-Israel groups backing Latimer’s agenda, some calling it the most expensive House primary race ever held. Groups such as AIPAC spent over $14 million on TV advertising, calling out Bowman for his comments against the war in Gaza.
In a new record, six Orthodox Jews will become members of the New York State Assembly in January as a result of last night’s election. Ari Brown, Kalman Yeger, Aron Wieder, Simcha Eichenstein, Sam Berger and David Weprin all won in their districts.
This is seen as a huge victory for the Jewish community at a time when antisemetism is at an all-time high in New York and advocacy for Israel is top of mind.
Today Jamaal Bowman heard from American Jews who are proud of being American, and who are proud of being Jewish. Politicians and media – it’s time to stop amplifying the token fringe of our people who deny other Jews, whether here or in Israel, the right to live free of terror.

The illogical and head scratching actions of these unhinged lunatics came to a head last night. Lost in the anti AIPAC rage of lefty loons was the fact that in the 11th hour of an extremely heated race , this person and her band of psychos took on the entire lefty establishment… https://t.co/gVmlJxvlIe

It is not the money that beat Bowman, its the votes. He didn't lose by $15 million, he lost by 17%. Why? Jews, the most reliable of Democratic voters and a significant part of his constituency, took umbrage to Bowman's support for Jew-killers and turned up in large numbers to… https://t.co/naTBO4JgLC

No. Bowman fell because he was an extremist, had bad policies and was widely disliked in his own district.
But leave it to @nytimes to use a vile antisemitic trope. pic.twitter.com/KFCsVfdG4P

Has the @nytimes considered that the people of New York were unhappy with Bowman’s performance as a member of Congress?
Of course not. It must have been the Jews. pic.twitter.com/lkPWgLDAYD
