Breaking: Supreme Court Ruling Gives Trump Immunity

0

In a shocking turn of events, the US Supreme Court ruled on Monday that former President Donald Trump can claim immunity for some of the decisions and actions he made as president during his term. This immunity decision will further delay Trump’s trial over whether he tried to upend the 2020 election results in his favor. The ruling stated that any person who has served as a President of the United States has protection from prosecution for official acts.

Trump has spoken out on the judgment calling it a “big win for our Constitution and democracy” and for his case. He remarked that he is “proud to be an American” after this ruling. Trump was charged for allegedly plotting to overturn the 2020 election by having private discussions with the Department of Justice at the time and trying to get Vice President Mike Pence not to accept Joe Biden’s win on January 6th.

In addition to this case, Trump is facing numerous battles in court including a sentencing hearing in the next week after being found guilty in a hush money trial. Sources state that Trump’s lawyers will try to use this immunity win to overturn the hush money criminal case. In his battle against current President Joe Biden for the 2024 presidency, these legal cases may have a big impact on the outcome of the election.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has just announced that she will file articles of impeachment following the Supreme Court’s decision today. She posted on X that “The Supreme Court has become consumed by a corruption crisis beyond its control.
Today’s ruling represents an assault on American democracy. It is up to Congress to defend our nation from this authoritarian capture.”

Initiating impeachment proceedings against Supreme Court justices simply because their rulings are unfavorable is a genuine attack on our judicial system. It reveals a disregard for the constitutional oath and demonstrates that such individuals are unfit for any position of power. Not a surprise from AOC, she may want to consider continuing on the Bowman campaign trail.
