The spread of the new coronavirus has slowed in New York, including on Long Island, though Nassau County has more cases than almost anywhere else in the state.

As of Saturday morning, there were 36,161 confirmed coronavirus cases in Nassau County and 1,720 deaths. Here are the number of cases for each community, based on the latest data available (local cases):

Cedarhurst: 149 (Up)
Hewlett: 167 (Down)
Inwood: 280 (Up)
Lawrence: 232 (Up)
Woodmere: 524 (Down)

Compare from previous dates:

April 26th
Cedarhurst – 144
Inwood – 258
Woodmere – 495
Hewlett – 159
Woodsburgh – 19
Lawrence – 214April 11th
Woodmere-310
Lawrence-148
Inwood-111
Cedarhurst- 97
Hewlett-91

Something worth noting is that all this data is ‘Raw Data’. Just because a town has more positive cases – there are many factors to consider: Being that the testing stations have increased the number of cases has as well. Additionally, perhaps the overall feeling may have people not as concerned to test themselves when previously some may have decided to just stay home and not get tested.

Certainly one should continue within the community to be listening to all announcements from both guidance of our local leaders in office and Vaad Harabonim.
