Woodmere: New Traffic Light on Corner of Edwards Ave. & Peninsula Blvd to Improve Safety

1

Peninsula Blvd has sadly been a very dangerous road for Five Towners in recent years, with multiple tragedies R”L. Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman has decided to take action. The county will be adding a new traffic light & increased patrol in the area to help slow down motorists.

In a statement below, Blakeman announced the actions he will be implementing:

After conducting an exhaustive traffic safety study and hearing from many members of the community, I have directed the County’s Department of Public Works to install a traffic light on the corner of Edwards Avenue and Peninsula Blvd in Woodmere.

I have also asked the Nassau County Police Department to increase enforcement in the area. With an increase in truck and vehicle traffic, this stop light along with increased enforcement will improve safety conditions on this very busy roadway.
