Local Conversation Regarding Anti-Semitism Draws Large Crowd

2

Nassau County Legislator Mazi Melesa Pilip hosted a panel discussion this week at Young Israel of Great Neck with an incredible panel. This powerful evening was inspiring and motivating for all who attended. The panelists were legislator Mazi Melesa Pilip, police commissioner Patrik Ryder, Andrea Bolender (“Voices4Truth”), Scott Cushing & Avi Posnick (“StandWithUs”).

Rudy Rochman, an Israeli Activist with a massive social media following, posted a very moving tribute regarding the evening, which he shared on his social media platforms following the local panel. See below:

“Some may say “if you see something, say something”, but just speaking about antisemitism or only remembering & teaching about past traumas, such as the Holocaust, is NOT enough. Not even close. In fact, just talking about antisemitism or obsessing about bringing antisemites to Holocaust museums has often served as a distraction from taking real actions, only giving Jewish communities a quick fix of false comfort. The reality is that there is no easy way out or outside force that we will plead to that will come save the day.

In order to prevent the next chapter of trauma we must learn the lessons of why & how it happened in the past, not JUST the history of what happened. This is the very purpose of our Jewish holidays, where we learn the lessons from our past traumas to make sure they do not repeat.

Jew hatred is thousands of years old, and these thousands of years of outcomes present a very clear formula. Whenever the Jews are weak, divided, afraid, assimilating, and going away from their mission statement (tikkun olan & or la goyim), antisemitism rises and exterminations occur. Whenever Jews are empowered, strong, fearless, united, and fulfilling their purpose, we rise above the greatest of challenges and overcome the worst of civilizations who’ve sought to destroy us.

The future of the Jewish People will be written by the actions (or lack of actions) that the Jewish People take. We cannot count on the efforts or promises of outside forces to protect us in the long run.

If you see something, do something about it!

When you see darkness, it becomes your responsibility to bring light to that situation.

Never stop educating about the past, but if we ultimately forget to take the actions in the present to write the future, the future will become our past.”

  1. It sounds like someone is blaming assimilated ( secular ) Jews for the problem . That itself is very divisive , and contradictory to her plea for unity .

  2. The more we try to assimilate , falsely
believing that we will be loved and accepted, the more society will harshly remind us of who we are!!
Just look at our history!!!!! Don’t worry, the liberal jewish population bashing israel will not be protected in the future either!
