“Fentanyl overdoses are ripping apart Nassau families!” said Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman in a press conference Monday.
“The President must secure the southern Border to prevent drugs from flowing into the US, and my administration is doing its part by rolling out a $60 million plan aimed at saving lives through treatment, education, and awareness,” he continued.
The administration was joined by representatives from LICADD and family members who lost loved ones due to the opioid epidemic to announce the new initiative to decrease overdose deaths in Nassau County.
Fentanyl overdoses are the leading cause of death for adults aged 18-45. While the Nassau County Police Department does an excellent job, the Southern Border allows Fentanyl to flood our region. For that reason, I am urging President Biden to immediately secure the Border and stop the flow of these drugs that are killing young people and destroying Nassau families at an alarming rate.
In addition, to help prevent overdose deaths, the administration has placed Overdose Reversal Agents in County Buildings, Parks, and Facilities.
“In 2021, our medical examiner here in Nassau County reported 270 overdose deaths; 190 were from Fentanyl. In 2022, the numbers were virtually the same — the trend is not going down. We must be vigilant and keep working” said Blakeman.
Sixty Narcan kits will be deployed across the county in government buildings and parks where there are defibrillators.

I agree! Bruce – stop the games with Biden and the southern border and start focusing on the Five Towns! You haven’t done anything for the Five Towns…what happened to lowering the red light cameras and taxes? But don’t worry Bruce is careful to make sure his wife becomes a judge. Shameful!!!

Blakeman is a disaster for the frum community. I regret my vote for him. He only got elected because of us! He won’t be elected again!
