IDF Mourns Loss of Two Reservists in Gaza

The IDF has announced the deaths of two reservists R”L killed during fighting in the central Gaza Strip on Wednesday:

  • Master Sgt. (res.) Ido Aviv HY”D, 28, of the Yiftah Brigade’s 9232nd Battalion, from Karmiel.
  • Master Sgt. (res.) Kalkidan Meharim HY”D, 37, of the Carmeli Brigade’s 223rd Battalion, from Petah Tikva.

Their deaths bring the tragic death toll in the IDF’s ground offensive against Hamas to 263 Korbonos. The pair was killed following an explosion during a battle with Hamas terrorists in the Netzarim Corridor area.

Israeli Police Officer Wounded in Terrorist Attack

An Israeli police officer in his 30s was lightly wounded after being stabbed by an Arab terrorist in the Old City near Herod’s Gate. The terrorist, identified as 34-year-old Hassan Saklanan, a Turkish national, was shot and neutralized by police. Surveillance footage shows the moment Saklanan attacked an Israel Border Police officer with a knife before being shot dead by the wounded soldier and another officer. The officer sustained light to moderate injuries in the terror attack.
