Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, Police Commissioner Patrick J. Ryder and Nassau County STOP DWI Coordinator Chris Mistron announce enhanced patrols to identify and arrest motorists driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol for the Labor Day holiday weekend.

The Nassau County Police Department will be increasing patrols throughout the holiday weekend through Labor Day in order to continue their effort to keep roadways safe and free from intoxicated and impaired drivers.  These heightened patrols will utilize a DWI Enforcement grant from the New York State STOP DWI Coordinator’s Association.

The Nassau County Police Department Marine Bureau will also continue with their “Operation Safe Boating” program which will increase patrols during the holiday weekend to detect impaired boat operators and monitor all waterways for reckless behavior.

County Executive Curran and Commissioner Ryder urge drivers and operators to use proper judgment to keep our roads and waterways safe and to not drink and drive.
