In the midst of last nights historic storm which swept away cars, submerged subway lines, and temporarily grounded flights in the Tri-State areas on Wednesday night, two Hatzalah crews heroically came to the aid of a woman in labor.

Hatzalah of Washington Heights and Riverdale Hatzalah were called to assist a woman about to have a baby.

The woman was stuck in non-moving traffic caused by the torrential rains & heavy traffic of Hurricane Ida and could not reach a hospital.

After an hour attempting to reach the woman by ambulance, Riverdale Hatzalah’s Dudie Silberman and Yaniv Lautman each ran 1.2 miles carrying equipment to get to the woman so they could give her assistance until the ambulance could make its way to her location. Mi Kiamcha Yisroel!

Strong work by Hatzalah of Washington Heights and Riverdale Hatzalah.

A car with a woman in labor was caught in the gridlock caused by the torrential rains last night–heavy traffic, multiple road closures, and extensive roadway flooding. The two areas worked together for over hour to access the patient, including 2 crew members who took equipment and ran over a mile(!) to get to her to provide care until the ambulance could arrive.

The baby was delivered in the car and, B”H, everyone is healthy & doing well.
