Whoopi Goldberg has been suspended from ABC’s “The View” for two weeks following her comments on the Holocaust. The announcement followed one day after Goldberg told her co-hosts on the show that the Holocaust was “not about race.”
“Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments. While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments,” Kim Godwin, president of ABC News, said in a statement.
“The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities.”
Whoopi Goldberg exposed herself as the anti-Semite we all suspected. Her statements were not made out of ignorance but hate. Her contempt for America and our values has been tolerated by tv executives for far too long!

#BREAKING Whoopi Goldberg is being suspended for two weeks by ABC News after her comments about the Holocaust on “The View.”
Even though Whoopi apologized and had the head of the ADL on to teach her where she was wrong, ABC is still taking her off the air. pic.twitter.com/RVm6aJL6nL

Whoopi Goldberg was dangerously wrong about the facts of the Holocaust, and The View’s audience is in the millions. @ABC has made the right decision. I can only hope that this entire incident might lead to greater education on antisemitism & the Holocaust. https://t.co/qVZDGGoLpz

Inside ABC News, there was pressure from some staffers who felt that the network needed to take some action after Whoopi Goldberg's Holocaust comments. But there were others who felt that the apology was enough. Here's the latest for @NewDay. pic.twitter.com/IGwDgkpKRz
