Oil Tanker Accident & Fire, Heavy Delays Expected Around Sunrise Highway

On Wednesday, February 16, at approximately 1:30 AM all local Fire departments were requested to respond mutual aid to the Rockville FD for a tanker that struck a building and exploded causing multiple building to catch on fire. Multiple storm drains were affected as well due to the flowing flammable liquids.

Engine Co. 323 with Utility 327 responded with foam assets to help battle the blaze. Multiple departments were called due to the severity of the incident. The incident is under the investigation of multiple local and state agencies.

Firefighters continue operating at the multi alarm fire in Rockville Centre. Crews from across the south shore are batting a fire in multiple buildings the result of an overturned gasoline tanker.

Expect heavy delays in the area of Sunrise Highway.
