We announce with sorrow the untimely passing of Mordechai (Michael) Gelfand A”H, he was 33-years old.
Mordy was reported missing after traveling to New Orleans on a business trip back in January. Since that time, the Jackson and Five Towns communities, as well as all of Klal Yisroel were davening for his safe return.
Mordy was known as a tremendous Baal Chessed who would do anything for anybody. He had a smile and personality that literally lit up the room and will be very missed by all who knew him.
The family thanked the local police, New Orleans Chabad, Achiezer of the Five Towns, Hatzalah and all those who assisted in the search and who davened for his return.
Mordechai leaves behind his wife, children, parents and siblings.
The niftar is being flown to New Jersey and a levayah will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, at 10:30 a.m., at the Congregation Sons of Israel Holocaust Memorial Chapel, located at 613 Ramsey Street, in Lakewood, NJ.
