Police Officer George Day joined County Executive, Police Department and numerous other agencies spoke about the importance of NUMC as a Trauma Center.
On July 6, 2019, Police Officer George Day was on Motorcycle Patrol when he was struck by a vehicle whose driver left the scene. Officer Day was immediately transported to NUMC which is a Level One Trauma Center.
Officer Day sustained 19 broken ribs, two collapsed lungs, a shattered knee with five additional fractures, road rash, herniated discs in his neck, spinal damage, as well as other injuries to his shoulder, hip and wrist.
After two months of hospitalization and intense rehabilitation, Officer Day continues his healing process. If it weren’t for the staff and Trauma Center at NUMC, Officer Day’s prognoses may have been very different.
