Amid a wave of religious-based hate crimes, political and community leaders are joining forces at an event hosted by City & State officials in Manhattan. Titled “Building Bridges,” the event will feature the voices of prominent faith leaders and public officials on a range of issues, including security for houses of worship and support for faith-based schools in New York.
OU members & Askanim were joined by Governor Hochul, Mayor Adams, Sen. Schumer, and many others addressing the challenges Jews have been facing in NYC and showing a strong hand of support to address the issues.
We must call out and condemn antisemitism whenever it rears its ugly head.

🚨 Hochul announces a new stateside initiative — a “hate and bias prevention unit” that'll be part of the Department of Human Rights. “And it's not just going to be sitting in a bureaucratic office.”

Leading NY’s fight against antisemitism, @GovKathyHochul‘s message to antisemites is: When you attack one of us, you’re picking a fight with 20 million New Yorkers, including our governor. pic.twitter.com/Tpb3EV8JPK

This morning @OrthodoxUnion is convening an urgent meeting in midtown between 100s of community leaders & elected officials to discuss combating the surge in #antisemitism; we will meet w/ @SecMayorkas @SenSchumer @GovKathyHochul @NYCMayor. Also hear from R’Hauer @NDiament

A recent victim of an antisemitic attack in NY asked @GovKathyHochul if he should still wear his yarmulke in public. She encouraged him to do so, telling him to “Wear that with pride…because your ancestors will expect no less.” pic.twitter.com/IaLXxgluE5

Kudos to Hochul for coming down and speaking even thought the community rightfully so voted against her.
So nu, what are the solutions?
A Bias Hate initiative in a Department of human rights sounds like a great idea until you realize that it will be used to enforce conformity with the radical left gender ideology being pushed so heavily. So be careful what you wish for. The OU would be wise to realize this.
The actual solution is for Hochul and Co. and the entire entourage sitting comfortably there, to pick themselves up, leave the beautiful cozy shul, and go down to the communities where these haters are coming from, and make it known that anyone who lifts a hand to hurt a Jew will suffer severe consequences. Spread the word. Tell their community leaders, tell the parents, tell the gangs. And actually enforce it.
Ari, can you please clarify? The implication of your comment is that you want to eradicate Jew hatred while protecting your right to hate those you disagree or are uncomfortable with. Even if a bias hate initiative includes gender minorities under its umbrella, it’s mission is to protect people from hate, not to force their ideologies on anyone else.
What a joke. Nice try Hochul and Schumer but we see your true colors. The new department – on top of a thousand other duplicates – won’t do anything and probably won’t exist in two hours once Hochul moves on to her next photo op. If Hochul cared she’d make hate crimes bail eligible WHICH SHE HAS NOT DONE.
Dear Let Ari Hate,
Sure, I will clarify. I don’t hate anyone who disagrees with me or makes me uncomfortable. I don’t want anyone of any background to experience hatred or violence, and no one has a right to do that to another human being.
I don’t how how you came to that conclusion about me.
The radical left ideology I specifically quoted, has popular support among the politicians at yesterday’s conference, and does indeed force their ideology on the majority. It uses these initiatives as a spear to wage battle against who don’t agree with their cause by accusing non-conformists of engendering hatred *simply because we disagree.*
One small example out of a much larger social issue: If we misgender someone, or don’t accommodate someone’s bathroom preference, or don’t agree with certain inappropriate books being showed to children, etc., under these initiatives, we are accused of hatred.
It’s a double standard.
I could go on but if you are well-read you know the issues at hand.
Thanks for the opportunity to clear things up!
