There is an urgent need for people to join a Graveside Levaya this morning, Thursday, January 5th. 5TC received the following memo from the Neuberger’s, please see the contact details below for any questions.
“A beautiful down syndrome woman was nifteres on Wednesday. Her mother is in her 90’s and r”l has severe dementia. There are no other immediate relatives. We have known the family for decades through the relationship of the woman and my sister who is also special needs. The family is not frum. They are wonderful people, but many years ago made arrangements for a reform rabbi (Uri Goren) to handle things in this situation. We were told by the family to expect that very few people will attend – IY”H, if we can have a frum minyan show up, we will attempt to have a frum kaddish said, rather than the rabbi saying it.
We are therefore sending this urgent message out to ask for any and all who can come to help make a minyan. This woman was obviously very special and we would like to do this for her.
The levaya is scheduled for 11:00 am (Thursday, January 5th) at Montefiore Cemetery (the “old” Montefiore) in Queens – 121-83 Springfield Blvd, Springfield Gardens, NY 11413. The woman’s English name is Michelle Wiesenfeld. We were told the kever is plot 29 row 1, if there are any issues, the funeral director, Frank, can be reached at 516-764-9400, or just ask at the entrance.
