Nassau County GOP joined the call this morning to demand that Santos resign. The group called his antics a “disgrace” calling out his “lies” and the “stain ” he has had on the district. Santos represents New York’s 3rd District, which includes most of the county, and the call Wednesday from the leadership of his own party is the strongest yet against the embattled freshman.
Santos has since admitted to lying about his educational background, his work experience, and his investments — and he faces an even longer list of alleged fabrications he has not yet acknowledged or refuted. The other lies include his ethnicity, his mothers’ death being related to 9/11, his mother going through the Holocaust, his personal relationships , his finances and a whole lot more.
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman joined the call to demand Santos to resign: “George Santos must RESIGN NOW from the United States House of Representatives. He is a stain on our government and does not deserve the right to serve our people. Having broken the public trust, he cannot be an effective representative. My office will help residents of the 3rd Congressional District with Federal issues by working in partnership with 4th District representative, Congressman Anthony D’Esposito.”
Nassau County GOP Chairman Joe Cairo said in a statement. “He has no place on the Nassau County Republican committee, nor should he serve public service, nor as an elected official. He’s not welcome here at GOP HQ.”
In response, Santos has confirmed that he still has zero intent to resign: “I was elected to serve the people of #NY03 not the party & politicians, I remain committed to doing that and regret to hear that local officials refuse to work with my office to deliver results to keep our community safe and lower the cost of living.
I will NOT resign!”
