North Lawrence: Homeless Man Arrested For Armed Burglary Inside Amazon Warehouse

The Fourth Squad of the local police department has reported the arrest of a homeless man in connection with a burglary that occurred on Tuesday, June 13th, at 6:49 am in North Lawrence. The suspect, identified as Aubree Thompson, 35, with no known address, was apprehended by law enforcement officers after a swift response.

According to detectives involved in the case, the incident occurred at the Amazon warehouse at 253-51 Rockaway Boulevard. A twenty-eight-year-old female security guard, tasked with ensuring the safety of the premises noticed Thompson inside the warehouse, holding a black knife. Immediately recognizing that he was unauthorized to be on the premises, the security guard confronted the defendant and instructed him to leave. However, Thompson fled deeper into the facility in an attempt to evade capture.

Realizing the seriousness of the situation, the vigilant security guard promptly dialed 911 to request police assistance. Responding to the emergency call, officers from the fourth precinct arrived at the scene. Following a thorough search, the defendant was located on the second floor of the parking garage. A brief foot chase ensued, but the police were successful in apprehending Thompson without further incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the course of the arrest.

The authorities have now charged defendant Aubree Thompson with several offenses, including Burglary 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree. Thompson is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, June 14th, at the First District Court located at 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
