Forty-two survivors of the Oct. 7 massacre at the Supernova music festival at Kibbutz Re’im are taking legal action against the Israel Defense Forces, Israel Security Agency, and Israel Police, citing negligence. They are seeking 200 million shekels ($53.6 million) in damages.
The lawsuit, filed by lawyers Anat and Gilad Ginzburg, highlights that security authorities held meetings the night before the Hamas invasion, with intelligence signaling abnormal activity in the Gaza Strip.
Gilad Ginzburg emphasized that a single phone call could have prevented the tragic outcomes for 364 individuals who were either murdered, raped, and another 40 who were kidnapped into Gaza.
This comes as an investigation from The New York Times finds Israeli forces were poorly organized in their response and had no plans to stop such an attack, which went ahead “unimpeded” for hours.
