Israel Airstrike in Syria Targets Iranian Officials

Iran said that five of its key military advisors have been killed in an Israeli airstrike in Damascus, Syria over the weekend. The advisors were apparently members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Iranian foreign ministry released a statement blaming Israel for the attack and that “it reserves the right to respond at the appropriate time and place.” The attack leveled a building and killed a few civilians as well. Israel has yet to comment.

Violent Anti-Israel Protest By Italian Expo

At a large international jewelry fair in Vicenza, Italy, protestors demonstrated violently near an Israeli exhibition booth. Hundreds of people came to the fair some with signs saying “Free Palestine,” and “Stop Bombing Gaza.” The protestors fired smoke bombs and caused the police to react with water cannons. Mayor of Vicenza, Giacomo Possamai said the violence has “no justification.” “It also hurts the causes that it claims to support — it is a contradiction in terms to demonstrate for peace and a ceasefire through violence,” he wrote on social media.

US Versus Houthis – Again

The US Central Command forces hit Houthi missiles that were aimed into the Gulf of Aden on Saturday, making this airstrike the sixth US encounter with the pirates. The director of the terrorist group said his people are enthusiastic about “confronting America directly,” and promised not to stop. This comes after President Biden admitted on Thursday that US measures against the Houthis aren’t working as well as intended. Iran representatives and Hezbollah members are apparently in Yemen overseeing Houthi attacks and providing them with up to date technology.

“As part of ongoing efforts to protect freedom of navigation and prevent attacks on maritime vessels, on Jan. 20 at approximately 4 a.m. (Sanaa time), U.S. Central Command forces conducted airstrikes against a Houthi anti-ship missile that was aimed into the Gulf of Aden and was prepared to launch. U.S. forces determined the missile presented a threat to merchant vessels and U.S. Navy ships in the region, and subsequently struck and destroyed the missile in self-defense. This action will make international waters safer and more secure for U.S. Navy and merchant vessels.”

Netanyahu Doubted: Is Fighting The Answer?

Protestors stood outside Netanyahu’s house in Caesarea calling for the release of hostages and ending the war in Gaza. Families of those held in captivity stayed in tents along the road and held signs with photos of their loved ones. This occurred after Netanyahu ignored Biden’s suggestion of how to implement a two state solution or facilitate some sort of peace deal now. Netanyahu staunchly reiterates his position that Israel must keep fighting against Hamas and remain in control of Gaza after the war is over. Critics of Netanyahu say that keeping the war going will only result in the remaining hostages being killed. However, the PM has declared that using military means is the best strategy.

Latest Hostage Deal Offer (Not a single member of the Israeli war cabinet will agree to this)

Israeli TV journalist Amit Segal reports: This is the latest offer from Hamas. Hamas will release all of the hostages in exchange for (wait for this): (1) immediate and total cessation of the war; (2) withdrawal of all IDF forces from Gaza; and (3) international guaranties that Hamas can remain in power thereafter.
