Town of Hempstead Files Lawsuit to Try & Stop Congestion Pricing

The Town of Hempstead filed a federal lawsuit last week in another attempt to stop congestion pricing.

Town of Hempstead Supervisor Don Clavin and the Town Board hosted a press conference announcing the Town’s lawsuit against the MTA for its poorly conceived congestion pricing program.

Set to begin on June 30th, the MTA will impose a $15 toll on passenger vehicles entering Manhattan below 60th street, with trucks facing charges up to $36. This regressive tax will not only impact commuters but also essential workers who will receive no exemptions or discounts.

Joining forces with Rep. D’Esposito and local union leaders, Supervisor Clavin continues to prioritize protecting residents’ quality of life, leading the charge as the first municipality on Long Island to stand up in the face of Governor Hochul’s newest tax.

CBS spoke to drivers about having to pay up come June 30 in the interview below.

  1. What a joke! How about Don and Missy try to fight antisemitism and stop giving TOH money to anti semitism on campuses including Hofstra University. All talk no action.
