*This post has been updated. Nassau County Police have clarified to 5TC that the location of the incident was Esplanade Assisted Living, as indicated below.

Fourth Squad Detectives have reported the arrest of a Queens woman for an assault that occurred on Tuesday, May 7th, at 8:50 am in Woodmere.

According to detectives, the victim, a 71-year-old male who suffers from a cognitive disorder, was found with bruises on May 3, 2024. He was under the care of Esplanade Assisted Living, located at 130 Irving Place. The victim’s legal guardian became suspicious after being informed by the facility that the victim had fallen out of bed multiple times. As a result, the legal guardian placed a camera in the victim’s room. Upon reviewing the footage, the guardian observed a woman striking the victim multiple times with a closed fist in his face and lower body. The woman also shook him multiple times. When the legal guardian visited the facility, they observed bruising on the victim’s face that was not present during their last visit. The police were notified, and Lisa Napier, 41, of Laurelton, was arrested without incident.

Defendant Napier is charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree, Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person in the 1st Degree, and Endangering a Vulnerable Elderly or Incompetent Person in the 2nd Degree. She will be arraigned on Wednesday, May 8th, at the First District Court in Hempstead.

Detectives are requesting anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a similar incident to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911. All callers will remain anonymous.

  1. There is confusion and inaccurate reporting of this criminal act. Quite simply, the incident being reported occurred in an assisted living facility in Woodmere, and not a “rehab” facility, and certainly not the Five Towns Premier. As a Gerontologist and supervisor, I am a very proud to work at the Five Towns Premier Rehab and Nursing Center. I hope this brings comfort to our residents, families and friends at the Five Towns Premier.

  2. Many years ago an African American student who was in a class that did in service visits to various nursing homes told me that the abuse on a particular nursing home very concerning .years later my my entered that home . Within a few months the bruises were obvious. Unfortunately the place was immaculate but the caretakers had a strong union that protected the abusers.
A Jamaican coworkers mother begged her never to put her in a nursing home. Her mother worked for years in nursing homes
    Maybe she knew something?

  3. Cathy, Five Towns Premier are the same owners of Woodmere Rehab. About 12 years ago 4 nurse/nurse assistants were indicted for abusing patients at Woodmere Rehab. What other Rehab/ Assisted living facility is there in Woodmere?

  4. Disgusting.. and ur attempts at obfuscating the issue only shows how insensitive to ur patients u r. This is a related facility owned managed and in the same compound of ur facility. Abuse of defenseless individuals is Parr of the culture at ur administration. As a geriontologist & supervisor at such a place shame on u. Look for work in a prison, more in line with ur attitude & insensitivity.

  5. From my experiences at the Five Towns Premier and seeing how patients are treated there with my own eyes I would avoid the Premier as well. It is disgusting, diapers are never changed, patients have all sorts of injuries. Avoid, avoid avoid

  6. I’ve visited both facilities as an EMT and none of this is surprising. In all honesty the Five Towns Premier despite its nice veneer is disgusting upstairs and patients are not treated well. Local EMTs call it the death facility.
