Op-Ed: Is The NY Times At It Again? By Michael Wittmann

The NY Times is at it again with their underhanded anti-Semitic attacks on the Israeli State. The Defense Ministry of Israel didn’t start saving lives today, they started saving lives from the moment the State was founded. Since its founding Israel has been under attack from enemies from within and outside its borders. Less than two weeks after Yom HaZikaron, a day when we remember the losses of Israel men and women who gave their lives protecting the Jewish people and the victims of terrorist attacks, the NY Times has the audacity to speak with such callous disregard for truth. The notion that the Israeli Defense Ministry is best known for killing people and blowing things up, is not only misleading, but asinine. The Israeli Defense Ministry is best known for protecting itself and saving lives. Israel that was founded in the aftermath of the Holocaust in which six million Jews were murdered while the nations of the world turned a blind eye. Israel’s founders recognized that the Jewish people must reestablished our ancestral homeland.

In a time of great uncertainty and rising anti-Semitism in the United States and around the World, the NY Times, joins the Mayor DeBlasio in targeting the Jewish people. Instead of reporting the tremendous work Israel has done in developing life-saving medicinal technology, the NY Times can’t help itself from putting a negative spin on it. Journalism isn’t supposed to be about sensationalism, it’s supposed to be honest, it’s supposed to be accurate.

Why doesn’t the NY Times report the indoctrination of Palestinian children to hate Jews? Why don’t they report the Palestinian Authority’s payments to the family’s of terrorists? The NY Times and its friends in the mayor’s office will always find a way to denigrate and put us down. As Elie Weisel once powerfully said, “silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” We will not be silent.

Israel will continue to exist and protect itself from its enemies. No amount of false and malicious reporting will stop the Jewish State from annihilating those who wish to annihilate us. The NY Times may wish to forget about the Holocaust and the thousands killed in terrorist attacks, but we will not forget. We stand resolute when we say: Never Again.
